First Baptist Church Corinth, First Baptist Church Denton, and First Baptist Church Coppell all gathered around the Powell families as we grieve the loss of Jason leaving behind wife Christi, son Jack, parents, brother, and two sisters. We all have the full confidence of knowing he's in Christ's glory in heaven so for that we rejoice. We hope our sweet Olivia is showing him around and they can dance together. Our hearts break for Christi, Jack, Randy, and Anita as well as his brother and sisters and extended family. This is our prayer for them from Isaiah's prophecy about Jesus the Christ:
Isaiah 61:1-3
The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me,
because the LORD has anointed me
to preach good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,
to proclaim the year of the LORD's favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn,
and provide for those who grieve in Zion --
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
instead of ashes,
the oil of gladness
instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the LORD
for the display of His splendor.

Nolan's Learning..........
Here is a conversation between Nolan and Mark this morning:
"I wanna scratch your back," said Nolan to his Daddy.
"You want to scratch my back?" said Daddy.
"How do you ask?" replied Nolan in his dramatic two and a half year old voice!

Potty Training Will Wait
Well, I gave potty training a whole hearted effort for three days and have decided to stop for now and start fresh in a few months. Nolan is a smart kid and I can tell he knows what to do but he does not at all wish to use the potty deliberately. I took the Potty Wise approach of getting him all excited a few days before start day, we went and bought treats, I put big boy underwear on his bear and we did all the role playing with bear. I especially rewarded dryness as well as the times of him using the potty. Well, as the days went on he was catching more of a clue and would literally hold it while on the potty and within 2 minutes of getting off the potty would then pee in his underwear and plastic pants. I chose to wait for now (none of the dragging things out thing) instead of disciplining him because it's just not a hill to die on and I want it to be more of a pleasant experience than torture! And this time I deliberately did not take pictures of my frazzled self!! Story to be continued.............

Happy Fourth of July!
After Mark worked, we went to our friends' home for wonderful food and SkipBo and Uno. Thank you Tammy and Tom! GUESS WHAT?? I forgot my camera. I know. Again.
Happy 41st Birthday Mark!
You know he loves it when I keep poining out how old he is and that for the next month, he'll be SEVEN years older than me (hee, hee). Unfortunately, he had to work all day and evening on his birthday but Nolan and I took him out for lunch and Nolan made him a card. We gave him a much needed watch but we need to have some links taken out so it doesn't look like some man bracelet! We baked him a cake and brought it to the church for dinner before rehearsal. We all gathered around the "41" cake and sang happy birthday and GUESS WHAT?? I forgot my camera. again.
Anyway, Happy Birthday My Love!

Anniversary Getaway
We were blessed to have 3 nights at the Omni Hotel as a romantic vacation. Mom and Dad lovingly took care of sweet Nolan and they had a blast too I think. Mark and I enjoyed delicious meals out, especially wonderful at Abacus for dinner and Breadwinners for brunch. Mark indulged me by joining me at Afternoon Tea at The Adolphus Hotel - exquisite! I think he enjoyed himself as much as I did. We had fun at the stageplay Hairspray, singing and dancing our way out. We enjoyed worship at MacArthur Blvd Baptist Church and they were so welcoming to us although we sorely missed worship at our home church. We came back missing our Nolan yet feeling refreshed with some great memories!
