Esther study

I have the honor of facilitating the Wednesday morning women's Bible study at church on Beth Moore's latest study, "Esther: It's Tough Being a Woman." I am loving this study! At first I thought, how great can this be? I've studied Esther before and sometimes things that distinctly distinguish between women and men can be a little annoying to me. Anyway, this study is awesome! Esther is rich with so many details and Beth does an excellent job breaking it down and giving tons of history to make it more meaningful. She also ties in some word from later in scripture as to how the Lord is always consistent. We even had the fun times of celebrating Purim during our study because Purim was on March 10th. I highly recommend this study to all ladies out there!

Helpin' Daddy

Nolan got to help his Daddy hang up the curtain rod in his room yesterday . . .

So Long Kipruto!

Nolan's little friend Kipruto and his family moved back to Las Vegas last week. We are sad to see them go but we are so glad we got to spend some time with the Koechs a couple of weeks ago at our home . . .

Once every 5 years.....

Do you ever complete a project and think whew!?? Well, Registered Dietitians (RDs) have to complete a minimum of 75 continuing education units every 5 years. Not only that, but the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) changed their format a handful of years ago. It used to be that an RD went to a conference or seminar and then signed in on the attendance sheet and the sponsors sent it in to CDR and they kept track of our units. The new format is a "portfolio" format where basically we do all the paperwork ourselves. At the beginning of the five years we have to complete an exhaustive career plan with learning codes, etc. Then for the five years, the RD completes paperwork in their portfolio as they complete units. Well, at the beginning of my cycle, I was a little busy with being pregnant with Olivia then losing her and well, I eventually turned in the beginning part of my portfolio. I somewhat frantically worked hard the last few years to get in my units. The expiration of my 5 year cycle is on May 31, 2009 and I just completed the whole thing yesterday and mailed it in to CDR! What a relief!!! Take taxes times 5 years and that's how relieved I was to turn this thing in. Ahhhhhh. To start all over this summer but woo hoo!!

I attended a conference last weekend on diabetes and obesity and attended some amazing talks by MDs, RDs/MPHs, etc. I learned new things and am pumped with my new information for my clients.

Remember, Registered Dietitians are the Nutrition Experts! March is National Nutrition Month.

Happy Anniversary!

Mark and I celebrated our 7th anniversary and we are as happy as ever - God has blessed us so much and we are so thankful. Neither of us are perfect by any means but we are just right for each other! Mark orchestrated a very elaborate date 2 weeks before our anniversary so I really didn't see anything coming. The greatest thing was that he arranged to have the gold van decorated while we were eating at Giuseppe's. Although he was a little embarrassed to do this, it was described in a date idea card he pulled from a "date box" of ideas from Family Life. Being the romantic man that he is, he put his embarrassment aside and did this for me anyway, driving me around the Denton square twice and then ending up in front of Wal-Mart for all the world to see! We are so Lake Dallas, aren't we??? I love you honey!
